La Baguette
du Jour originates not in France - as its name
might imply - but in Wales, where an excellent business
has developed to provide the strong foundations of
our café and buffet catering network.
The first outlet opened in Swansea
in 1995 and proved highly successful. Further outlets
were then established in different types of site, ranging
from a compact restaurant-within-a-store to a 100 seater
city centre location.
The company
is very keen on good marketing and promotion of the brand.
La Baguette du Jour is strongly projected
through distinctive interior and exterior signage, menus,
packaging and staff uniforms.
All these
attributes certainly present the products to the very
best advantage and a visit to any of our outlets will
immediately confirm that this is no ordinary
fast-food establishment.
Quality
is clearly of the essence with freshly baked baguettes
and patisserie, delicious Fair Trade coffee blended to
demanding standards and an exceptional range of desserts.
La
Baguette du Jour was created
by Marlene Meadon, who as Managing Director continues to
be a driving force. Marlene is widely recognised
for her achievements in this business, which she led from
modest beginnings to a position of some prominence. Along
the way, she achieved the well deserved personal accolade
of "Welsh
Woman of the Year" and a host of other awards,
including "Sandwich
Bar of the Year" and the prestigious "Small
Business of the Year".
The Franchise Director
is Mark Meadon, Marlene's husband. With a career background
as a food industry executive, he was involved with La Baguette
du Jour from its earliest days. He joined the board full-time
in 1999 to concentrate on franchise development.
